Meet your doula
“Community-based care means for us, by us.”

F. Dana Bear is an enrolled citizen of the Osage Nation, with German and Black heritage, and she hails from the Grayhorse District. Bear serves as a cook during In’lonschka for her Tallchief family and other family camps. She is an activist, auntie, creator, herbalist, and lifelong learner. Bear completed training as a full-spectrum doula and childbirth educator training through the Birthing Advocacy Doula Training program in 2022, and she holds an Associate Degree in Native American Studies from Tulsa Community College. In the fall of 2024, she completed training with the Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative and plans to finish her certification through their apprenticeship program in the summer of 2025. Once certified, Dana intends to register as a state provider so that clients using state-issued insurance can receive birth support.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Bear designs jewelry inspired by her Wahzhaze heritage, balancing everyday life with creativity. Her business, Tallchief Designs LLC, specializes in wearable art that combines traditional and contemporary designs. Her other venture, Tallchief & Co, focuses on birth work and herbal support services. “Connecting with plants, food, and nature, and taking care of the way we bring life in and out of this world is a step forward in self-determination for communities of color,” Bear states. “My love of nature and reproductive justice, coupled with a need to create, led me here. As an Afro-Indigenous woman my blood carries a long memory of birthing bodies on these lands. My passion lies in empowering women to use thier voices and learn to be their own advocates when it comes to their birth experiences.” Dana attributes her keen eye for style and zest for life to her mother, Angela Tallchief, and her late grandmother, Betty Lee McKinley.
